YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Central YMCA's annual Open House/Health Fair is Wednesday at 17 N. Champion St., 7 a.m.-6 p.m.
The health fair, 7 a.m.-2 p.m., offers about 15 community health and wellness booths and several health screenings, such as cholesterol, thyroid and prostate tests; complete blood count, lipid and comprehensive metabolic panel testing, at a nominal charge. Free services include bone density screening, blood pressure, spinal screening, body fat measurements, and peripheral vascular disease screening.
From 8 to 11 a.m., the Youngstown City Health Department offers flu and pneumonia shots for $10 and $15, respectively. St. Elizabeth Health Center will provide tests from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and the Mammovan will offer breast cancer screening. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be available from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nutritional expert Dr. M. Shayesteh will speak from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m.

Girard senior health fair
GIRARD -- The Girard City Board of Health's third annual Senior Citizen Health Fair is from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St. About 30 health care agencies will offer health screenings and information.
Alzheimer's awareness
CANTON -- The 23rd annual Awareness Breakfast of the Canton Office of the Greater East Ohio Area Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is Nov. 22 at Four Points Sheraton. Dr. John F. McGreevey is the speaker. Reservations are $12 and must be received by Friday. Call (330) 966-7757.
Villa Maria presentation
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- Villa Maria Sister Services offers "What Is Health" as part of its Complementary Health Series from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Villa Maria Community Center. The presenter is Erin H. Holston, a graduate of the National College of Naturopathic Medicine. There is no fee or registration required. Donations are accepted. Stroke screening
AUSTINTOWN -- Life Line Screening will offer stroke risk screenings at Grace Lutheran Church, 162 S. Raccoon Road, beginning at 9 a.m. Nov. 18. Screenings involve ultrasound, and scan for potential health problems related to: blocked arteries, which can lead to a stroke, aortic aneurysms, which can lead to a ruptured aorta, and hardening of the arteries in the legs, which are a strong predictor of heart disease.
Each screening requires 10 minutes or less to complete. A complete vascular screening package is $99. A complete vascular package plus osteoporosis screening is $125.
