CRIME SOLVERS Mercer County
A case of shoplifting and assault is the focus of Mercer County Crime Solvers this week:
Crime: Retail theft and assault.
Location: Rite Aid, Sharon City Centre, Sharon, Pa.
Details: Police said a man allegedly taking a car for a test drive Wednesday stopped at the Rite Aid store in Sharon City Centre. He went inside to steal an MP3 player, leaving Phil Cooper, owner of Phil's Auto Sales & amp; Service, who went along for the test drive, sitting in the passenger seat and unaware of what was going on. The man came out of the store and got back into the car; he was about to drive away when the store manager approached, reached inside the vehicle and grabbed the stolen merchandise. Police said the driver hit the gas and dragged the store manager about 5 feet, causing him to suffer minor injuries. The man then drove out of the lot to South Water Avenue where he jumped out of the car and ran off, again leaving Cooper sitting in the passenger seat, police said.
