TORONTO (AP) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs needed two victories to get over an embarrassing loss.
Bryan McCabe had a goal and an assist Tuesday night in the Maple Leafs' 4-2 victory over Pittsburgh.
After a 7-1 loss to Philadelphia on Saturday night, Toronto beat Carolina 2-1 on Monday night and made it two in a row with the victory over the Penguins.
"We still had the sour taste in our mouth from that Philadelphia game," Toronto captain Mats Sundin said. "I think we've come back with two really good efforts. We definitely have given a lot better effort."
Aki Berg, Darcy Tucker and Robert Reichel also scored, and Owen Nolan had two assists for the Maple Leafs.
The Penguins played without Mario Lemieux, sidelined by a strained left hip muscle.
"We know Mario is going to be back very soon and when he does we are much better, there's no question about it," Pittsburgh coach Ed Olczyk said.
Pittsburgh goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, the top overall pick in the draft, stopped 34 shots in the former Quebec junior star's first NHL appearance in Canada.
"For sure I was nervous a little bit, but I just tried to stay calm," Fleury said.
Ryan Malone and Rico Fata scored for the Penguins, whose three-game unbeaten streak ended.
The game featured three fights after the Penguins fell behind 3-1. Toronto's Bryan Marchment got into it with Pittsburgh's Ramzi Abid, pulling the sweater over Abid's head, and Toronto's Wade Belak and Pittsburgh's Steve McKenna fought at the same time as Toronto's Nathan Perrott and Pittsburgh's Dan Focht.
"Toronto had a bad loss against Philly on Saturday, so obviously they wanted to play as hard as they could," Fata said. "They had a lot of intensity over there and so did we. There's no bad blood between the teams. It was just a good hard game."
