Tool types won't want to write their letters to Santa until they've checked out the "2004 Tool Guide: A Buyer's Companion" by Taunton Press. Taunton, which publishes the well-regarded Fine Homebuilding and Fine Woodworking magazines, is launching the magazine-type guide this fall and plans to make it an annual publication. The 122-page guide offers reviews of more than 225 power and hand tools tested by Taunton editors and writers. In each category, the editors have identified a best overall and a best value choice. The "2004 Tool Guide" sells for $9.99 and is available on newsstands.
Permanent 'glue' patch
Pacer Technology, the company that brought you Super Glue, has come up with something just as interesting -- the Anchor-Tite Permanent Patch. The patch, which uses Super Glue technology, can be used to repair and seal many exterior surfaces, including concrete, metal, plastic and fiberglass. It cures in five to 15 minutes in the sunlight, 30 to 50 minutes in cloudy weather. It can be drilled, tapped and sanded, and it accepts paint in an hour. The patch also is waterproof. The cost is $8.99 to $9.99.
