STRUTHERS Police arrest teen in assault with a bat
STRUTHERS -- Police arrested a Struthers teen Tuesday, accusing him of beating an 18-year-old man about the head, neck and chest with a baseball bat.
Ryan M. Trimacco, 17, of 166 Iroquois Drive, had been released from the Mahoning County Juvenile Detention Center the day before, said Struthers Detective Simone Ugolini. He now faces a felony aggravated assault charge and is back in custody.
What happened
Police reports show that Trimacco 17-year-old Sunny Crane drove Trimacco to an area near a home in the 3900 block of Riley Street about 5 p.m. Tuesday, where he beat Anthony Gonzalez of Crescent Street with a bat found in a nearby yard. The two had a dispute about a girl.
When police attempted to arrest Trimacco at a home on Fifth Street, Crane, of South Avenue in Boardman, was sitting on the front porch and told officers he was not there. When they knocked, Trimacco answered the door and was arrested. Crane faces a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of official business and a misdemeanor charge of possessing drug paraphernalia, after officers found drug-related items in the car she drove. She was released to her mother.
Ugolini said the Riley Street home has been an after-curfew party spot for young people ages 15 to 17, who go there to use alcohol, marijuana and other drugs.
