The man was driving with the headlights off, witnesses said.
LISBON -- A Sebring man is dead after his car struck a tractor in Knox Township.
Joseph Heck, 24, of Sebring was pronounced dead at the scene Tuesday after the 8:10 p.m. crash, the Lisbon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
The crash remains under investigation, but witnesses told the OSHP that Heck was driving his 1988 Oldsmobile coupe at a high rate of speed with the headlights off.
The patrol said Heck was driving north on Knox School Road when the car struck the rear of a northbound farm tractor pulling a silage wagon. The patrol said Heck's car struck the wagon. The driver of the tractor, Robert Herold, 73, of Alliance, was not injured.
Another crash
The patrol is also continuing investigation of a fatal crash in Salem Township. The patrol said David Miller, 89, of Lisbon died Sunday after he pulled his car into the path of a car driven by William Morris, 79, of Youngstown.
Miller was driving west on Lodge Road around 3 p.m. Sunday and stopped at the stop sign at Lodge and Leetonia roads. Miller then pulled into the intersection, and his car was struck by the car driven by Morris. Morris was driving north on Leetonia Road.
The patrol said Miller's wife, Angie, 89, and Morris and his wife, Barbara, 81, were taken to Salem Community Hospital.
A hospital spokeswoman said this morning that Morris was treated. She had no information available about Barbara Morris or Angie Miller.
