SEASONAL ARRANGING What to choose
Choose materials that are in-season. They hold up better and look right.
Beware of color choices. Primary colors, clear red, blue and yellow, possess a summery feel. For autumn, look to softer tones and tints in colors, ones that have a hint of fading beauty about them.
Punch up these dominant autumn tones with colors a bit brighter, such a mauvy pink lily, blue-toned red roses or yellow roses tinged with orange.
Look for foliage with hints of bronze and burgundy or margins tinged in rosy mauve.
Use stems to define heights and widths, but let their condition, budding, full leaf or leafless, signal the season.
Seek out the unusual in containers such as tole-painted tins or leather boxes that posses a feeling of age and use that suits autumn.
