GM declares dividend
DETROIT -- General Motors Corp. declared a fourth quarter dividend of 50 cents a share on its common stock. The dividend is payable Dec. 10 to holders of record as of Nov. 13. The dividend rate is unchanged from the previous quarter.
HealthSouth CEO indicted on federal fraud charges
WASHINGTON -- The former head of HealthSouth Corp. will face federal charges stemming from what prosecutors say was massive fraud aimed at propping up the medical care company's stock price, The Associated Press has learned.
The grand jury indictment against former CEO and chairman Richard Scrushy was to be unsealed today in Birmingham, Ala., said a federal official who spoke Monday on condition of anonymity.
Fifteen former HealthSouth employees have already pleaded guilty to criminal fraud charges.
