I have waited with great anticipation to hear how much the elected officials have decided my cost of living has risen in the past year. Now I know. These guardians of my financial well-being computed that I need a 2.1 percent increase to maintain my lavish lifestyle. This translates to about $22 a month, but they need a 13.5 percent increase in my contribution to the fabulous coverage I receive under Medicare, ($7.90). This leaves me a net increase of $14 ($164 a year). Last year, I received a 1.4 percent increase, and my Medicare contribution went up more than 5 percent ($5.80) leaving me a net $108 per year. The state of Ohio saved me having to decide how to spend my newfound wealth by increasing my state sales tax costs about $10 per month. This year I am sure the government-sponsored oil monopoly will be able to gobble up my windfall.
I know that at times everyone must tighten their belts, but it should be equal tightening across the board. The parasites who suck their living from the trough that is filled by the blood, sweat and tears of the working class are receiving 2.2 percent to 4.1 percent raises. This works out to about $33 a month ($3,900 a year) for our congressmen and senators! They are already grossly overpaid for what they do and also have government (taxpayer) paid health and pension plans that give them and their families care fit for a king -- Medicare gives up the bare minimum.
The only way elected officials will ever consider reforming Medicare to benefit the people who depend on it is if they are covered by it. Until all government people are removed from their platinum benefit plans and covered by Social Security and Medicare health care, there will be no parity.
I urge all people who depend on Social Security and Medicare to revolt. Vote no on every tax no matter the purpose, and never vote for a career politician. Pay them their grossly inflated salary for one term in any office and tell them to get their snout out of the trough and go back to work for a living. If there is no qualified novice running for any job, abstain from voting.

I have an interesting story from Sunday at the Holiday Inn Metroplex in Liberty, the site of a Fall Bridal show. Recently I booked a honeymoon trip through Burger Travel of Youngstown. Having enjoyed it thoroughly, I was asked by Burger Travel if I would attend a bridal show and talk about Aruba, and their excellent services.
After I sat down at the booth, Burger Travel management was told I had to leave. The reason? It was a Clear Channel event, and I did not work for them. They said, "Unless he buys a ticket, he must leave." I had no problem with that, and I bought a $6 ticket.
A few minutes later, I was approached by a security guard and told I had to leave with him immediately. He said that my money would be reimbursed, but I must leave immediately.
I was shocked to say the least. While I do work at another radio station in the Valley, I was there in dress clothes with no station paraphernalia. Burger Travel hired me to talk about their service, and help their Valley business. You would think this was Clear Channel's job as well. I have more important things to do on a Sunday than try to ruin their event. If anything, I would've helped make it a success.
I was publicly humiliated and escorted out like a criminal. In a community where I have lived all my life, donated countless community service hours, I was made to feel like a villain. I guess the country isn't as free as it once was, before Clear Channel took it over.
