CAMPUS NOTES In the spotlight



ASHLAND UNIVERSITY
Integrated science major Danica Hull of Boardman is a member of the university's Geology Club, with activities including field trips to areas of geological interest and lectures on geology topics. She is the daughter of Nancy Hull.
Middle school education major Christopher Kondas of Canfield has been elected officer of judicial affairs and standards on the Student Senate. He is the son of Christopher W. Kondas.
Kristin Reamensnyder of Cortland is a member of the Eagle Elite dance team that performs during halftime of home basketball games. She is a 2002 Lakeview High School graduate.
Mathematics major Paul Carmany of New Middletown is a columnist on the staff of The Collegian, the university's weekly newspaper. He is the son of James and Wanda Carmany.
Tina Peluso of Struthers is a member of the student life staff of the Pine Whispers yearbook. She is the daughter of Thomas and Debbie Peluso.
JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY, Baltimore.
Biology major Emily Pennington of Boardman has been inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, a group that recognizes academic achievement among first- and second-year college students and encourages leadership through community service. A Boardman High School graduate, Pennington is the daughter of Carl and Eleanor Pennington.
MOUNT UNION COLLEGE, Alliance
Chad Kimmel of Youngstown received the A.P. Rickard and Alice M. & amp; Stanley T. Evans Freshman Prize for achieving the highest grade-point average of anyone in his class, a 4.0. A 2002 Boardman High School graduate, he was given the award during the Dewald Honors Dinner and Lecture at the college.
The Dowling Mentor Program has selected 36 students to mentor middle and high school pupils from the Alliance area this academic year. Among them are these local students: post-baccalaureate student Trina McKelley of Youngstown; seniors Allyson Shultz of Salem and Nicole Yanik of Masury; juniors Melissa Behr of New Castle, Pa., and Beth Evans of Boardman; and sophomores Anthony Jones of Youngstown and Jason T. Weingart of Salem.
OHIO NORTHERN UNIVERSITY, Ada
Krystyne M. Evans of Boardman is a member of the ONU Dance Company and appeared in "The Tenth Anniversary" concert this month on campus. Evans, a fourth-year pharmacy major, is also active in the cheerleader squad. She is the daughter of James and Dianalyn Evans.
