YOUNGSTOWN Michigan man to lead YSU's diversity office



He replaces Barbara C. Orton, who retired earlier this year.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jimmy Myers of Ann Arbor, Mich., a veteran in the field of equal opportunity, affirmative action and diversity, is the new director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity at Youngstown State University.
He will be paid $86,000 a year plus benefits.
Myers replaces Barbara C. Orton, who retired earlier this year. She was paid $72,448.
Myers, who was director of the Office of Equity and Diversity at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor since 1997, will direct YSU's equal employment opportunity, affirmative action and diversity programs.
Myers previously was director of affirmative action and a grievance officer at the University of Michigan.
In addition to his employment at the University of Michigan, Myers previously was assistant director for the Human Rights Department of the city of Ann Arbor and field representative for the Civil Rights Enforcement Division of the Michigan Department of Civil Rights in Detroit.
Myers holds a bachelor's degree in political science and history from Wayne State University in Detroit and a master's degree in public administration from the University of Michigan.
