Chrysler Championship
Schedule: Thursday-Sunday.
Course: Westin Innisbrook Golf Resort, Copperhead Course (7,230 yards, par 71), Palm Harbor, Fla.
Purse: $4.8 million. Winner's share: $864,000.
Television: USA (Thursday-Friday, 4-6 p.m.; Saturday, 3-6 p.m.) and ABC (Sunday, 2-5 p.m.).
Last year: South Korea's K.J. Choi won his second 2002 title, beating Glen Day by seven strokes.
Last week: Vijay Singh won the Funai Classic at Disney for his fourth victory of the year, beating Tiger Woods, Stewart Cink and Scott Verplank by four strokes. Singh leads the money list with $6,827,507 -- $250,094 ahead of Woods.
Notes: The tournament is the final full-field event of the season, with the top 30 on the money list advancing to the Tour Championship next week at Champions in Houston. The top 40 will earn spots in the Masters, and the top 125 will gain full 2004 tour exemptions. Chris Riley is 28th with $1,870,933, followed by Choi ($1,867,963), Rocco Mediate ($1,832,656), PGA champion Shaun Micheel ($1,827,000) and Fred Couples ($1,820,495). Esteban Toledo is 123rd with $487,495, followed by Pat Bates ($485,919), Per-Ulrik Johansson ($484,577), Dicky Pride ($483,923), Spike McRoy ($480,773) and Chris Smith ($479,523). ... Singh, making his 26th start of the season, tops the field along with Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson, 37th on the money list with $1,623,137. ... John Huston won the inaugural event in 2000. The 2001 tournament was canceled because of the terrorist attacks.
LPGA TOUR
CJ Nine Bridges Classic
Schedule: Friday-Sunday.
Course: The Club at Nine Bridges (6,306 yards, par 72), Jeju Island, South Korea.
Purse: $1.25 million. Winner's share: $187,500.
Television: None.
Last year: South Korea's Se Ri Pak won the last of her five 2002 LPGA Tour titles, beating Sweden's Carin Koch by six strokes in cold and wind.
Last event: Sweden's Sophie Gustafson won the Samsung World Championship on Oct. 12 in Texas, closing with a 64 for a two-stroke victory. She also survived questions about two possible rules infractions.
Notes: Pak tied for 10th Sunday in the Korean tour's SBS Super after becoming the first woman to make the two-round cut in a men's tour event in 58 years. ... Michelle Wie is making her seventh and final LPGA Tour start of the year. The Hawaiian star turned 14 on Oct. 11. ... The Mizuno Classic is next week in Japan.
