WARREN -- A 24-year-old Girard man accused of stealing big-ticket items from the Canfield Fair has pleaded guilty to one count of receiving stolen property.
Jason Graham entered the plea Tuesday in the courtroom of Judge Andrew Logan of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. He'll be sentenced after a background check.
Police said Graham and Jason W. Deshetler, 22, of Stoneybrooke Drive, Hubbard Township, took a hot tub and a gas grill from the fair.
Deshetler pleaded guilty last month in Girard Municipal Court to two charges of theft. He was fined $100, placed on one year's probation and ordered to pay about $350 in restitution.
Police patrols increase
NILES -- The city police department will increase the number of patrols to target drunken and impaired drivers this weekend and randomly throughout November.
Cortland Relay for life
CORTLAND -- Cortland Relay for Life will have its kickoff rally at 6 p.m. Nov. 12 in the Lakeview High School cafeteria. The public is invited.
Sidewalk office hours
WARREN -- Councilman John Homlitas, D-3rd, will conduct sidewalk office hours at 9 a.m. Saturday at Woodland and Kenilworth avenues N.E.
There are many issues that will soon be in front of council, including the possible revamping of the park system, and it's important that the citizens of Warren have an avenue to air their ideas and concerns, Homlitas said.
Meat stolen from garage
WARREN -- A Roosevelt Northwest man told police someone stole $500 worth of meat from the freezer in his garage.
Charged with theft
YOUNGSTOWN -- Michael Phillips, 46, of Lansdowne Boulevard had $350 worth of heartburn pills on him when stopped by store security at Rite Aid on East Midlothian Boulevard Tuesday evening, police said.
He was arrested on a theft charge.
Tour bus driver arrested
BARKEYVILLE, Pa. -- State police arrested the driver of a tour bus after he stopped his vehicle in a rest area along Interstate 80 and refused to move until his passengers gave him money.
State police charged Kai Chen, 44, of Brooklyn, N.Y., with disorderly conduct, harassment and a violation of his driver's log book.
Police said he was the driver of a tour bus headed east on Interstate 80 from Chicago to New York City at about 3 a.m. Sunday when he pulled into a rest area.
He demanded money form his passengers who had already paid for their trip, and when they refused to give him more, he took the keys and got off the bus, police said.
Salem Goodwill theft
SALEM -- Someone has been stealing items from the Salem Goodwill, 187 S. Broadway Ave.
Police said the charity has reported that items are being taken from a drop-off area behind the store. In the last six weeks, two bicycles, a brass bed and a patio set were stolen.
The crimes were reported at 8:58 a.m. Tuesday.
