Federal jury indicts Boardman resident
YOUNGSTOWN -- A federal grand jury in Cleveland has handed up a one-count indictment charging Michael A. Mike Jr., 49, of Devonshire Drive, Boardman, with conspiracy to commit food stamp trafficking.
The case was investigated by the IRS Criminal Investigation Division, FBI and U.S. Department of Agriculture office of the inspector general.
Vindicator files show Mike as the owner of Acme Steak of Youngstown, which filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.
In 2002, the company lost more than $200,000 worth of business providing food for Trumbull County jail inmates after an investigation into how the informal contract had been awarded.
