YOUNGSTOWN -- Gina Abbruzino (women's golf), Lena Arens (volleyball/swimming), Michele Batton (volleyball), Katie Bollinger (soccer), Michael DeToro (track), Alyson Finamore (women's tennis), Lori Hatcher (women's golf), Beth Hochstetler (track), Leslie Johnson (track), Corey Ohalek (baseball), Tony Orcena (track) and Josh Zarlenga (men's golf) earned a 4.0 grade-point average during the 2003 spring semester.

Bristol softball teamwins district title
FAIRPORT HARBOR -- Bristol High defeated Gates Mills Gilmour Academy 3-2 in eight innings in a Division IV district championship Tuesday.
The Panthers (13-5) advanced to a regional semifinal against Mogadore (14-14) Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Kent State. Jackson-Milton was to play in the other semifinal today.
In the eighth, Bristol's Amber Rasmussen walked and advanced to third when Gilmour Academy misplayed Marysa Burchett's bunt. Ashley Rasmussen then hit a sacrifice fly to left field.
Sarah Henry (5-1) struck out 15 and walked two, allowing two hits.
WoO race at Sharon
HARTFORD -- Sharon Speedway officials confirmed that the O'Reilly World of Outlaws series will race this Friday as scheduled.
Cabarrus County (N.C.) sheriff's deputies seized at least three trailers, a souvenir rig and a pace truck belonging to the owners of the World of Outlaws recently.
According to a report in the Charlotte Observer, the court-ordered seizure followed a civil suit filed by Wheeler Television Inc. against World of Outlaws Inc.
Reserved seats for Friday are $27 for adults and $14 for children (ages 3-13). General admission seats are $25 for adults, $12 for kids 6 to 13 and free for children 5 and under.
Terry Yarianruns marathon
BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Terry Yarian of Boardman placed in the top three of her age group at the Vermont City Marathon.
The race attracted over 6,000 runners. Yarian ran under four hours and has run in over 60 marathons in 40 states and Washington D.C. She is a member of the Youngstown Road Runners.
Walker helps Ga. Tech
SALEM, Va. -- Junior pitcher Aaron Walker, a native of East Palestine, pitched a complete game as Georgia Tech defeated Duke 23-4 in the Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament.
Walker (3-2) scattered 11 hits and struck out six.
Georgia Tech climbed out of the loser's bracket to beat North Carolina, Florida State and North Carolina State in the tournament. The Yellow Jackets (44-16) received a No. 3 seed for the NCAA sub-regional in Atlanta.
DeSalvo namedAll-American
GRAND CHUTE, Wisc. -- Marietta College's Matt DeSalvo (New Castle Union) has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association-Rawlings All-American team.
DeSalvo, a senior pitcher, earned All-American honors for the third time.
He posted a 13-2 record with 157 strikeouts and had a 1.31 ERA. He broke the NCAA all-divisions records for career victories (53) and strikeouts (603).
Malone names coach
CANTON -- Laura Wynn has been named women's basketball coach at Malone College.
Wynn will also serve as assistant professor in the college's Health and Human Performance department.
Dale Blaney winsfeature race
LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. -- Dale Blaney led wire-to-wire Monday night at Lawrenceburg Speedway in the Haulmark All Star sprint car 40-lap feature.
Blaney became the 13th different winner in 17 All Star races this year. Blaney's winning machine is the Fritz Andrews-owned, George Fisher-powered Maxim No. 72B.

Aeros win 3-1
ALTOONA, Pa. -- Corey Smith drove in all three Akron runs as the Aeros beat the Altoona Curve 3-1 Tuesday in the Eastern League.
Fernando Cabrera (4-2) gave up one run on four hits in five innings.
Akron has won 11 of its past 13 in Altoona.
