WARREN -- Elizabeth Boorn, a senior at Bristol High School, has won the Trumbull County 4-H essay contest with a piece on how the 4-H program prepared her for adult responsibilities.
Boorn, a member of Trumbull Dairy Feeders and the Happy Hams clubs, will receive $500.
The award is sponsored by the Strimbu Memorial Fund.
Renter's rights discussion
NILES -- Attorney Jonathan Politi will discuss the landlord-tenant relationship in the next installment of Law at the Library.
The series continues at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in McKinley Memorial Library, 40 N. Main St.
Politi will cover what rights and responsibilities each party has, how the law applies to apartments, house rentals and mobile homes and what procedures are in place to resolve problems.

Pitch old tires next week
HOWLAND -- Township residents can discard scrap tires at the Howland Public Works Department on North River Road weekdays from June 2 to 13 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Residents can drop off up to eight tires. No rims.
Artisans needed for show
BRISTOLVILLE -- The Bristol Bicentennial Committee is seeking artisans interested in participating in the Heritage Days Festival Sept. 13 in the park at the center of town.
Spaces are available both inside and out.

Man arrested for barking
FARRELL, Pa. -- Darryl L. Richardson, 42, of Emerson Avenue was arrested for barking at police.
The department reported Richardson barked at a cruiser twice shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday as it drove past where he was standing along Idaho Street.
The barking caused a police dog inside to become defensive, and Richardson was arrested on a charge of taunting a police animal.
He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.
2 horses stolen in Pa.
FREDONIA, Pa. -- State police are looking for a horse rustler.
Frank Braatz of Mercer Road, Delaware Township, reported someone stole a mare and a newborn colt from his pasture Friday or Saturday.
The mare stands 36 inches high at the shoulder and is brown and white.
Deer cause 2 accidents
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- State police said three deer trying to cross Interstate 79 caused two accidents.
Michael I. Driban, 28, of Girard, Ohio, was southbound on Interstate 79 around 7 p.m. Thursday when three deer ran into his path. Police said Driban swerved to avoid them and his car ran into the median and struck an embankment. He wasn't hurt but his car had to be towed.
The deer continued across the highway into the northbound lanes and one was hit by a car driven by Violet E. Sippy, 73, of Myrtle Beach, S.C. Sippy and a passenger were unhurt.
YSU seminars available
YOUNGSTOWN -- War and terrorism, Islam, Russia and China are among the topics that will be covered in seminars this summer by Youngstown State University's Creative Retirement Opportunities that Work program.
Session dates are June 4, war and terrorism; July 2, Russia and China in the global landscape; and Aug. 14, Islam history, art, architecture and religion.
Lecturers include YSU faculty and members of relevant community and government groups. Each seminar runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Kilcawley Center on the YSU campus.
Cost $67 per person for one seminar, or $169 for all three. Lunch is included.
