BOXING KO Drugs tournament finals are set

Thirty-four bouts are scheduled at Hubbard High.

HUBBARD -- There will be 34 bouts for championships to conclude the 16th K.O. Drugs High School Boxing Tournament Wednesday at Hubbard High School.
Boardman, Campbell Memorial and Canfield have seven participants each in the title bouts.
Spartans Nele Booth and Marc Schiavoni, both 2 and 0, will fight each other for the upperclass lightweight title.
In the upperclass lightheavyweight championship, Campbell's Jake Guriceo (3-0) will take on (2-0) classmate Dan Stucky.
Keystone and Liberty have five participants and Hubbard has four fighting for championships.
Included in the card will be six female bouts.
The underclass, the lightheavyweight and cruiserweight title bouts feature boxers with 3-0 records.
For the lightheavyweight crown, Chaney's Mike Rosa goes against Dustin Flick from Canfield.
Aubrey Chambers from Farrell will battle Mike Duponty of Struthers for the cruiserweight title.
Fighting for the underclass junior welterweight title will be Tom Peluso (3-0) from Struthers against Mark McNulty (3-0) from Keystone.
Another of the underclass battles between two 3-0 fighters has Greg Slade from Keystone going against David Castronova from Austintown Fitch for the welterweight championship.
Travis Huntley from Farrell and Tim Davis from Campbell are boxers with 3-0 records going for underclass championships.
In the upperclass, two-time tournament champion Dan Ramun from Poland goes against Boardman's Cameron Cimino for the super lightweight title. Both fighters are 3-0 and Ramun is 13-0 in three years.
Chris Pankewicz of Canfield and Larry Starr from Hubbard, both 3-0, will battle for the middleweight championship.
In the super middleweight field, four fighters remain to have that weight class split for two titles. Kiez Smith (3-0) from Boardman will go against Tom Fiscus (3-0) from Struthers for one of those championship belts.
A super cruiserweight fight was created where Billy DeColla (3-0) of Canfield, a 2002 champion, will be fighting John Mintus (3-0) from Mathews.
In the heavyweight championship bout, it will be Poland's Mike Crnarich (2-0) battling Hubbard's Dave Phillips (2-1).
Doors open at 6 p.m. with the first bout at 7. Tickets cost $10.
