Chicago got some help from an error by third baseman Eric Munson in the winning rally. With two outs and nobody on in the 12th, Tony Graffanino hit a routine grounder to Munson, who overthrew first baseman Carlos Pena for a two-base error.

Alou hit RBI singles in the third, fifth and seventh innings against his former team. Alou went 3-for-3 to raise his career average at Minute Maid Park to .344.
