ORVILLE DIVISION III Track athletes advance



ORRVILLE -- Western Reserve's Emily Johnson and Anna Marie Ricciardi and Jackson-Milton's Luke McCluggage each won district titles in the Division III track and field meet this week at Orrville High.
The top four finishers in each event advanced to this week's regional meet at Navarre Fairless.
A junior, Johnson won the 200- and 400-meter races while finishing second in the 100. Johnson won the 200 in 26.95 seconds and the 400 in 1:01.72. She finished the 100 in 13.40.
Ricciardi won the high jump (5-33/4) while finishing second in the 100 (16.41) and long jump (15-101/2) and third in the 300 hurdles (47.25).
McCluggage, meanwhile, raced to titles in the 1600 (4:33.30) and 3200 (9:57.42).
Western Reserve's Amanda Barbone advanced by finishing third in the discus (119-11) and fourth in the shot put (34-71/2).
Also in the weights, Jackson-Milton's Chris Anderson was second in the discus (138-9), while Western Reserve's Matt Speece was third (132-2).
The only relay to qualify was Western Reserve's 4x800 boys team, which was third (8:35.20). Running for the Blue Devils were Doug Shirley, Shawn Bryant, Adam Day and Jason Markijohn.
Western Reserve was fourth in the girls team standings with 78 points, while Jackson-Milton was 16th with two. Creston Norwayne won the meet with 114.
In the boys team competition, Jackson-Milton was ninth (28) and Western Reserve was 10th (25). East Canton won the meet with 104.
