MILWAUKEE -- Hideo Nomo took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning, and Fred McGriff hit a grand slam as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Milwaukee Brewers 6-0 Saturday night for their ninth straight victory.
Nomo, who has pitched a pair of no-hitters in his career, held the Brewers hitless until John Vander Wal's looping liner to left with one out in the seventh.
Wes Helms followed with another single, sending Vander Wal to third. But Eddie Perez struck out and Royce Clayton grounded into a fielder's choice as Nomo (6-4) got out of the jam.
Those were the only two hits allowed by Nomo in his ninth career shutout and second this season. He matched a season high with eight strikeouts and walked four in his 16th career complete game.
The right-hander improved to 5-1 in seven career starts against the Brewers. His previous complete game came on opening day at Arizona, when he stopped the Diamondbacks 8-0.
The Brewers' only other scoring threat came in the second when Nomo walked the first two batters before he struck out Helms. Perez hit into a double play to end the inning.
The Dodgers got to Matt Kinney (3-4) in the fifth.
Nomo led off with a single and went to second on Alex Cora's single. Shawn Green was hit by a pitch to load the bases. McGriff hit the first pitch into the upper deck of the right-field bleachers for his 485th home run and ninth career slam.

Cubs 3, Astros 2
HOUSTON -- Shawn Estes won his fourth straight decision, and Mark Grudzielanek had three hits to lead Chicago.
Mike Remlinger escaped a bases-loaded jam in the seventh inning for the Cubs, who are 8-5 since star slugger Sammy Sosa went on the disabled list May 10. The Cubs and Astros have split the first two games of a three-game series, leaving Chicago with a 11/2-game lead over Houston and St. Louis in the NL Central.
Estes (5-3) hasn't lost in five starts since April 26 at Colorado. He pitched six-plus innings, giving up two runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out three.
Antonio Alfonseca pitched a scoreless eighth, and Joe Borowski worked a hitless ninth for his ninth save in 11 chances.
Tim Redding (3-4) gave up three runs on seven hits. He walked one and struck out four in 62/3 innings.
Chicago took a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning after Corey Patterson led off with a single and stole second. Moises Alou drove him in with a double.
The Cubs increased their lead to 3-0 in the seventh when Grudzielanek singled and scored on a double by Alex Gonzalez. Patterson drove in Gonzalez with a double after Nate Bland relieved Redding.
