Tendinitis to sideline Bonds for team's next four

DENVER (AP) -- Barry Bonds is not expected to play in the rest of San Francisco's four-game series with Colorado after tests revealed tendinitis in his sore right knee.
Bonds was injured Friday night in the first game of the series when he crashed into the wall chasing a flyball by Preston Wilson in the fourth inning of Colorado's 10-7 win.
The five-time MVP stayed in the game, but limped off the field after leading off the fifth inning with a single.
"Basically, Barry had a little bit of tendinitis going in and aggravated it on the attempted catch," Giants trainer Stan Conte said. "He had a fair amount of pain last night. He has less pain today. So basically we are listing him as day-to-day. The MRI was very, very good result for us."
Bonds was also injured Wednesday against Arizona when he sprained his right ankle while running out an infield hit, but was back in the lineup Friday after San Francisco's day off.
He was 2-for-3 before limping off the field in the fifth inning after lining a single off the wall in right.
Conte initially thought the damage to Bonds' knee was worse, but the star left fielder walked into the Giants' clubhouse Saturday morning without much of a limp. He said Bonds has chronic tendinitis in his knee, which was aggravated by the leap into the wall.
"What I was concerned about last night was he actually had partially torn the tendon," Conte said. "The reason we got the MRI results back so fast is because he did not do that. There is no indication of any tears. There is a little bit of inflammation; not even a whole lot, which is great news."
Conte said Bonds will get treatment over the next few days before trying to do anything on the field.
Bonds, the single-season home run king, is hitting .297 with 12 homers and 25 RBIs this season.
