Sorenstam attracts record rating for USA Network
NEW YORK (AP) -- Annika Sorenstam's historic round at the Colonial gave the USA Network record ratings.
Her opening round produced a 1.7 national rating for five hours of coverage, the best ever for the cable network's Thursday coverage of a PGA Tour event.
That meant 1.4 million households and 1.5 million viewers watched Sorenstam become the first woman in 58 years to play on the PGA Tour. She opened with a 1-over-par 71.
USA's average rating for Thursday coverage of 15 PGA Tour events this year is a 0.69, which equals 592,000 households.
