Bicentennial celebration for Hopewell Furnace

Bicentennial celebrationfor Hopewell Furnace
STRUTHERS -- Mill Creek MetroParks will observe the bicentennial of the Hopewell Furnace, Ohio's first blast furnace, from noon to 4 p.m. June 1 in Yellow Creek Park. Besides commemorating the dawn of iron- and steelmaking in the Mahoning Valley, the event coincides with Ohio's bicentennial. It will feature speakers, historic and nature displays, entertainment, exhibits, games and refreshments and a hike to the furnace.
