SALEM -- Blackhawk Automotive Plastics of Salem has received the 2003 Manny Award for manufacturing



SALEM -- Blackhawk Automotive Plastics of Salem has received the 2003 Manny Award for manufacturing excellence in Northeast Ohio. Inside Business magazine in partnership with CAMP Inc. presented the awards. Blackhawk was one of six companies to receive a Manny Award this year recognizing their efforts to improve or create innovative manufacturing techniques and products, while streamlining operations. CAMP Inc. is a nonprofit professional organization providing technical, business and training services.
BOARDMAN -- Mike Spencer, a Boardman native, has been named to the Society of Office and Industrial Realtors, an international association of professional and commercial real estate brokers who exemplify high levels of knowledge, production and ethics. Spencer is vice president of Ruscilli Real Estate Services in Columbus. He is a 1990 graduate of Boardman High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Westminster College.
BOARDMAN -- Karen Peters, owner and chief executive of Primary Nursing Care, a home nursing and supplemental staffing services company, has been appointed to the National Republican Congressional Committee, Business Advisory Council. Locally, Primary Nursing Care has offices in Boardman, Warren and Hermitage, Pa.
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Stephen J. Gurgovits, president and chief executive of First National Bank of Pennsylvania in Hermitage, has been elected to a one-year term as chairman of the Pennyslvania Bankers Association, the state's largest banking trade association. Gurgovits has a bachelor's degree in economics from Youngstown State University and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. He is also vice chairman of First National's parent company, F.N.B. Corp.
BOARDMAN -- MicroMD, a medical practice management system developed by Microsys Computing, Inc. in Boardman, was one of 24 such systems recognized at the 19th annual TEPR Convention in San Antonio, Texas. TEPR stands for Toward Electronic Patient Record. The system, developed by Ajit Kumar, founder and president of Microsys, was awarded third honors in the category for physicians' office practice management.
WARREN -- Patty Helmic, a real estate agent with Realty One in Warren, was named to the 2003 Real Estate President's Council. The council is made up of representatives from real estate companies throughout the region.
