Garden Forum names winners

YOUNGSTOWN -- A spring flower show was held by the Garden Forum of the Greater Youngstown Area on May 17 and 18 at the D.D. and Velma Davis Education and Visitor Center in Fellows Riverside Gardens, Mill Creek MetroParks.
Elsie DeHoff was chairman of the event, and serving as judges were Dorothy Haddox, Jean Davidson and Regina Webb.
Winners of blue ribbons in horticulture were: Mary Schall, Irene John and DeHoff, Austintown Garden Club; Millie Campean, Gleaners; Carol Estox and Stephanie Sheely, Lowellville; Bev Italiano, member at large; Lynn Hoffman and Bill MacPherson, Men's Garden Club; Mary Mihalich, Moccasin; Audrey Korenic, Nature Lovers; Haddox, Our Lady of Fatima; Martha Murphy, St. Edward; Sheila Bowman, Salem; Pearl Marlos, Silver Leaf; and Davidson, Sweetbriar.
Recipients of blue ribbons for artistic design were Pearl Marlos, Silver Leaf, and DeHoff, Austintown. The gold seal in design and horticulture went to Marlos.
At a Garden Clubs of Ohio convention held May 5 and 6 at the Holiday Inn, the Horticulture Excellence Award was won by Evelyn Resek, a blue ribbon in horticulture was awarded Campean, and Nancy Kovach won the Educational Excellence Award.
