WEST BRANCH School board meets

West Branch Local Board of Education met Thursday and:
Approved a resolution releasing $7000 from the William MeiterTrust Fund for improvements to Damascus Community Park. Board president Larry Romigh explained that the Meiter fund has a board of trustees that votes on how the money is spent. The school board, which has control of the funds, accepted that board's recommendation to spend money to improve the park. Romigh noted that the park needs more renovation than the $7,000 will provide, probably as much as $50,000 for new facilities, including restrooms.
Approved the state-mandated five-year financial forecast for the district. Treasurer Karen Elsner said the board will remain in the black until 2007 when the forecast shows the district with a deficit. The forecast, however, projects zero growth for state foundation receipts and a modest 11/2 percent growth in property tax income.
