XAUSTINTOWN -- St. Joseph Church was the setting at 2 p.m. May 3 as marriage vows were exchanged by Melissa Beckinger, daughter of Bentley and Marilyn Beckinger of West Newton, Pa., and Shawn Varso, son of Linda Varso of Lake Milton and the late James Varso.
Solemnizing the ceremony was Deacon Michael Roberts. A reception was held at the Byzantine Center at the Grove in Youngstown, and the couple honeymooned on a cruise to the Bahamas. They are living in Austintown.
The bride's white satin gown featured an off-the-shoulder neckline and was accented with pink beaded Venise lace.
Her sister-in-law, Lisa Beckinger, was matron of honor, and bridesmaids were Shelly Burns, Buffy Roberts and Athena Vargo. They wore pink gowns. The bride's niece, Allison Beckinger, was flower girl.
Timothy Varso performed the duties of best man for his brother, and groomsmen were the bride's brother, William Beckinger, and Jeffrey Dietrich and Randy Williams.
Mrs. Varso holds a bachelor's degree in sociology and early childhood teaching certification from Seton Hill College, Greensburg, Pa. She is a mentor/coach specialist with the Youngstown Area Community Council Head Start in Youngstown.
Her husband graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. He is a police officer at the university.
