DaimlerChrysler scrapsWindsor, Ontario, plans
DETROIT -- DaimlerChrysler has abandoned plans to build a $1 billion plant in Windsor, Ontario, that would have created 2,500 jobs, the automaker said today.
DaimlerChrysler cited poor economic conditions in the automotive market, including low demand and sales in the United States. The company still plans to invest about $1 billion in its Brampton, Ontario, assembly plant, near Toronto.
Best Buy's CEO is paid $3.1 million
RICHFIELD, Minn. -- Best Buy chief executive officer Bradbury Anderson got $3.1 million in total compensation last fiscal year, the company reported to the Securities and Exchange Commission. He received a salary of more than $900,000 and a bonus of nearly $700,000. During the fiscal year ending Feb. 28, Anderson exercised stock options worth almost $1.5 million. He received $14,000 in other compensation.
