Last year: Zimbabwe's Nick Price won his first PGA Tour title in four years, closing with a 67 for a five-stroke victory over David Toms and Kenny Perry.
Last week: Fiji's Vijay Singh won the Byron Nelson Championship, beating Price by two strokes. Singh withdrew from the Colonial after his victory, a week after saying Sorenstam had no business playing in the PGA Tour event.
Notes: Sorenstam accepted a sponsor's exemption to become the first woman to compete on the PGA Tour since Babe Zaharias in the 1945 Los Angeles Open. The 32-year-old Swede is a 43-time winner on the LPGA Tour and the only woman to shoot a 59 in tour competition. She will play with PGA Tour rookies Dean Wilson and Aaron Barber in the first two rounds. ... Colonial was the site of the 1991 U.S. Women's Open, with the course playing at 6,340 yards and a par of 71. Meg Mallon won at 1-under 283. ... The low 70 and ties will advance to the final two rounds. The cut was at 3-over 283 last year, with 72 players advancing. ... Tiger Woods will return to the tour next week for the Memorial, his final event before the U.S. Open on June 12-15 at Olympia Fields. ... Ben Hogan won his hometown event five times. ... Spain's Sergio Garcia won the 2001 tournament for his first PGA Tour title.

Television: The Golf Channel (Thursday, 2-5 p.m.; Friday, 2-3:30 a.m., 2-5 p.m.; Saturday, 3-5 a.m., 2-5 p.m., 11:30 p.m.-1 a.m.; Sunday, 2-5 p.m., 11:30 p.m.-1 a.m.).
Last year: Laura Diaz became the first New York native to win the tournament, beating two-time Corning champion Rosie Jones by two strokes.
Last event: Jones ended a 17-tournament run of foreign winners, taking the Asahi Ryokuken International on May 11. The 43-year-old Jones has 13 tour titles.
Notes: Annika Sorenstam is skipping the tournament to play in the PGA Tour's Colonial. ... Hall of Famer Betsy King won in 2000, beating Kelli Kuehne and Vicki Goetze-Ackerman in a playoff. King also won in 1991. ... Tammie Green set the tournament record of 20-under 268 in 1998. ... The Kellogg-Keebler Classic is next week in Aurora, Ill., followed by the McDonald's LPGA Championship in Wilmington, Del.

Last year: Inaugural event.
Last week: Jay Sigel won in Parkville, Mo., beating Mike McCullough by a stroke. The 59-year-old Sigel has eight career victories.
Notes: Green Island was the site of the PGA Tour's Columbus Southern Open from 1970-90. Hubert Green, the 1975 and 1984 winner at Green Island, is in the field along with fellow Columbus champions J.C. Snead (1981), Ed Fiori (1979) and DeWitt Weaver (1972). ... The Music City Championship is next week in Nashville, Tenn., followed by the Senior PGA Championship at Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pa.
