HOWLAND School board takes applications for seat

The board reinstated all the employees who could have lost their jobs.
HOWLAND -- The board of education is accepting applications for a vacant seat on the board.
Monday, the board accepted the resignation of Eric Moore, a board member since 2000.
Moore said he resigned in preparation for a move to Clearwater, Fla., at the end of the summer. He said he is leaving the area for a promotion to vice president for sales and operations for the southern region of GBS Corp., an electronic and print publisher.
Quitting the school board "will be one of the hard things about leaving here," he said.
"As a board and as an administration, we have a lot of good synergy going," Moore said.
Deadline for appointment
The school board has up to 30 days to appoint a district resident to fill the remaining year of Moore's term.
Applications will be accepted until May 30, and should be directed to Treasurer Tom Krispinsky, 8200 South St. S.E., Warren 44484. For more information, call (330) 856-8205.
Selection process
Board members say they will determine the selection process after seeing how many people apply for the seat. The pay is $80 per meeting for the first 12 meetings per year.
Monday, the board also voted to reinstate positions for nearly 40 employee who officials say would have lost their jobs in September if the district's five-year, 5-mill additional levy had failed at the polls.
Voters approved the levy May 6.
