BOWLING Doughton's Gals climb to top in city tourney



Doughton's Gals, Ohio Family Health and Kay Lanes Lovely Ladies took over the top three spots in the team event portion of the Youngstown Women's Bowling Association's City Tournament through Friday.
Doughton's Gals rolled 2,868, Ohio Family Health had 2,696 and Lovely Ladies had 2,646. Previous leader Southern Tavern Ladies No. 4 dropped to fourth with 2,641.
New leaders in team event actual are Surprize with 2,449, Twisted with 2,379, Doughton's Gals with 2,355 and The Baggers with 2,306.
Theresa Florjancic's 269 remained high game in the team actual category.
Sending Jennifer Mellott and Teri Haefke's 1,308 to a fourth-place spot were the latest scores of new doubles leaders Becky Streb and Yvonne Lepore with 1,374, Mary Magliocca and Janet Sivak with 1,337, and Annie Bartoletti and Joanne Fish with 1,326.
Other leaders
Mellott-Haefke's 1,308, however, remained on top in doubles actual. Michele Mineo's 260 is the high game among doubles entrants while Joanne Clemens took over the singles lead with 730. Sue Matovina's 700 and Bonita Moore's 690 follow.
Singles actual leaders are Theresa Florjancic (687), Lynn Dibkey (684) and Beth Socchera (680).
Marla Chicase is the high-game leader in team event with 258.
Teri Haefke's 257 is still high game in singles. Haefke continues as the all-events leader (three-event actual scores) with 2,025.
No changes among leaders in the YWBA's accompanying 9-pin, no-tap tournament as Doughton's Gals stay on top with 2,558 in the 461 average-and-up class while Threesome did likewise with its 2,325 in the 460-and-under group.
