PA. SCHOOL CODE On religious items



According to the Public School Code in the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes:
No teacher in any public school shall wear in school or while performing job duties any dress, mark, emblem or insignia indicating membership in or adherence of any religious order, sect or denomination.
Any public school teacher in violation of this provision will be suspended for one year. For a second offense, punishment is permanent disqualification from teaching.
Any public school director who is aware of a violation and fails to comply with this provision is guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $100. A second conviction is punishable by a fine up to $100, firing and ineligibility for hiring as a public school director for five years.
