Health Awareness Award

Health Awareness Award
WARREN -- Deborah R. Zador has received the Health Awareness Award for 2003 from the Ohio Nursing Association District 3, which includes Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties. Zador, coordinator of the Prescription Assistance for Seniors program at SCOPE, previously worked at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Howland. Since she joined SCOPE in August 2001 with the inception of PAS, the program has saved about $1 million for 900 area senior citizens through free or discounted prescriptions. The PAS program, funded by Trumbull County commissioners, was an initiative that became a model for similar programs elsewhere, said Janet E. Schweitzer, SCOPE executive director.
Zador, of Howland, earned a bachelor of nursing degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and is a board-certified rehabilitation nurse and a longtime member of the ONA.
