LISBON -- A Canfield woman was injured when her car struck a ditch and overturned in Butler Township.
The Lisbon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Tiffany Fabian, 20, of Oak Tree Drive, Canfield, had minor visible injuries and was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown after the crash around 3:45 p.m. Sunday.
The patrol said Fabian was driving south on state Route 9 when she lost control and the car went off the right side of the road, struck a ditch and overturned.
18-month sentence
PITTSBURGH -- A Lawrence County woman was sentenced to 18 months, followed by three years' supervised probation in federal court, on her convictions of conspiracy and aiding and abetting false statements on firearms purchase forms.
Tammy Clark, 34, of Coffee Run Road, Pulaski, was in federal court Friday.
Court documents say Clark worked at Pete's Bait and Sport on Mahoning Avenue, New Castle, a federally licensed firearms dealer. Clark and three men are accused of selling firearms from about March 15, 2001, until April 27, 2001, to convicted felons who are prohibited from buying or possessing firearms, said the U.S. attorney's office here.
U.S. flag program
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Learn about the various flags that have flown in the United States throughout history at a program being presented by the New Castle Consistory.
"One Nation Under God" is planned for 7 p.m. May 30 at the Scottish Rite Cathedral Auditorium, 110 E. Lincoln Avenue. Soldiers and their families will be honored.
Flags dating back to Colonial days will be part of the program, which includes a narration of the history of each flag.
The program will be directed by Woody and Jeannie Miller of Harrisville, Pa. The current version of the program includes reflection on the Sept. 11 attacks.
The Millers gave their first "One Nation Under God" program in 1990.
Beaver Twp. Crime Watch
NORTH LIMA -- The next Beaver Township Crime Watch public meeting will be at 7 p.m. May 27 at Shepherd of the Valley's activity center, 9111 Sharrott Road.
Speaker will be township officer Dan Lewis, who will bring in his canine partner, Barkley. Lewis will demonstrate how Barkley is used in crime situations.
There also will be discussion on local crime statistics.
Paint-ball arrest
SALEM -- Police arrested a 17-year-old East Eighth Street boy on a delinquency charge, saying he shot a parked vehicle with a paint-ball gun.
Police arrested the teen about 8:30 p.m. Saturday after a man living on the 2500 block of East State Street complained to police.
The boy is accused of firing the paint-ball gun while a passenger in a sport-utility vehicle.
He was released to his parent's custody.
Break-in reported
SALEM -- A resident living on the 900 block of East Fourth Street said someone broke into her apartment sometime between Tuesday and Friday.
Nothing was reported missing.
Equipment theft
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Someone took about $500 and a concrete saw from All American Equipment CT on West Long Avenue.
Police said the burglar removed a piece of glass from the front door to get into the building.
The items were taken sometime Friday evening or early Saturday.
Electronics stolen
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Computer and home entertainment equipment were taken from a Raymond Street home over the weekend.
Police said someone took a Gateway computer, a DVD/CD player, 16 DVDs and a boxing glove signed by Muhammad Ali from a home on the 600 block sometime from 8:30 p.m. Saturday to 1:50 a.m. Sunday.
The door to the home was pried open, police said.
ODOT District 11 cited
SALEM -- The Ohio Department of Transportation's District 11, which includes Columbiana County, recently was presented with an excellence award by Ohio Award for Excellence, a private nonprofit agency that promotes quality.
The district was recognized based on excellence in several areas, including leadership, customer focus and work-force development.
