Woods falls 9 shots behind leader Padraig Harrington

ALVESLOHE, Germany (AP)-- Tiger Woods fell nine strokes behind leader Padraig Harrington after shooting a 1-under-par 71 Friday in the second round of the Deutsche Bank Open.
Woods was hurt by two early bogeys and was at 4-under 140 halfway through the tournament. He is trying to win the event for a third straight year.
Harrington opened a three-stroke lead with his 66, leaving him at 13-under 131. Retief Goosen of South Africa was at 134 after a 69.
"Paddy's going to be tough to catch," Woods said. "He drove the ball well today and putted the same."
Harrington strung together three straight birdies starting with the ninth hole to take the lead from Goosen, the 2001 U.S. Open champion.
The Irish Ryder Cup player had six birdies and no bogeys.
"If Tiger is going to win, two things are going to have to happen," Harrington said. "He's going to have to play better and I can't keep playing like this."
Trying for third straight
Woods is trying to become the first player on the European tour to win three straight titles in two events. He also won the WGC-NEC Invitational from 1999 to 2001.
Only Nick Faldo, Ian Woosnam and Colin Montgomerie have won three in a row, but only at one tournament.
Woods ran into trouble from the start in just his second round after taking a month off since the Masters.
He bogeyed the first and third holes, sending his second shot of the day into the rough. He blasted out, landed 5 feet past the cup and then missed his putt for par. Two holes later, he pulled his drive left into a pond.
"I had a good lie and 212 feet in front and it was howling downwind," Woods said. "I figured I could get a four iron there but I hit it fat and had no chance."
Woods finished with just three birdies.
"There's a lot of players out there that can give Tiger something to worry about," Harrington said. "I'm thinking mostly of myself."
