KEYSTONE CLIPS To school director, man's record is as good as gold

Sharon City School Board was reviewing ticket-price changes for athletic events at a work session last week when School Director Dom Russo, taking note of senior citizen Pete Calleja's stellar attendance record at school board meetings as well as high school athletic contests, suggested that perhaps Calleja is entitled to some sort of "gold card" free admission to events. Calleja, who rarely misses a board meeting, was in attendance during Russo's comments. "That's the smartest thing I ever heard you say," he quipped.
Cleanup duty
Shenango River Watchers is looking for volunteers to help clean up the downtown section of the Shenango River in Sharon on Saturday. The group will meet at 9:30 a.m. under a blue tent in the Sharon City Centre parking lot off Water Avenue. The cleanup will take about four hours, and lunch will be provided. This will be a canoe-based cleanup, and people with boats are asked to participate. If someone without a canoe wants to help, they can still register by calling the chairman of the cleanup committee at (724) 528-1102.
