YMTA Winners of piano competition to present recital at Bliss Hall



Students will perform selections played during a recent competition.
YOUNGSTOWN -- An Awards Recital will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bliss Hall on the campus of Youngstown State University. The event is free to the public and will feature the winners of the annual masters piano competition held May 10 by the Youngstown Music Teacher's Association and Youngstown State University.
Each of the students who were judged best of the 24 entrants, received a $50 bond and each will perform an award-winning selection at the recital. Performers and their parents are as follows:
UPre-A Division to third grade: Hayley Ward, Mrs. Laura Ward of Canfield; Lindsay Kirkham-Olsen, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Olsen and Thomas Kirkham of Boardman.
UA Division fourth to sixth grades: Divleen Kaur, Mr. and Mrs. Diljit Kaur of Canfield; Jessica Shearer, Mr. and Mrs. Reggie Shearer of Wampum, Pa.; Dennis Steinbeck, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Steinbeck of Warren.
UB Division seventh to ninth grades: Timothy Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lee of Howland; Sammy Borzi, Mr. and Mrs. James Borzi of Canfield; Katie Yazvac, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Yazvac of Boardman.
UC-Duet Division: Alexandra Fuentes, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Jones of Boardman; Andrea Dreier, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Dreier of Poland.
UC Division 10th to 12th grade solos: Karla Fedina, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fedina of Boardman.
UD Concerto Division: Karla Fedina.
The award-winning students represent the following teachers: Joan Cosgrove, Lisa Czifra, Fanny DiDomenico, Cindy Evans, and Diane Yazvac.
Dorothy Schwers is YMTA president, and Larry Harris is serving as chairman of the event.
