SEWING Q & amp;A
Q: I use fusible interfacing, and have accidentally gotten some on my ironing board cover. Is there a way to get that off?
A: Fusible resin can be removed by applying a hot-iron cleaner designed for the iron soleplate, such as Dritz or Faultless brands. Squeeze a bit from the tube directly on the area, and go over it quickly with a hot, dry iron. (You are cleaning your iron at the same time!) Then gently rub spots with a soft cloth in a circular motion. Wipe residue off the cover, and if it's a washable cotton, launder it by machine.
When using fusible products, protect the board surface with a Teflon pressing sheet or or an old pillowcase.
Q: I have sewing books and notions to donate to an organization that can use them. Any suggestions?
A: Many churches sponsor hand-made charitable projects and can use such donations, as well as fabric. Schools and community theaters are other possibilities.
