OFFICERS Installation ceremony held by Medical Society Alliance
POLAND -- The installation of officers was a highlight of a meeting of the Mahoning County Medical Society Alliance held May 15 at the home of Sue Yarab. The induction ceremony was conducted by Dolly Hordel, a past state and local medical alliance president.
Accepting the responsibilities of the office of president of the organization was Gloria Detesco, a life-long resident of Boardman. She worked in sales administration with Kraft General Foods division of the Phillip Morris Corp. for 21 years and is currently in charge of financial affairs at First Medical Associates.
About the president
Mrs. Detesco is a member of the Junior League of Youngstown, the Youngstown Symphony Guild, The Butler Institute of American Art, the Ohio State Medical Association Alliance and Tippecanoe Country Club Women's Association, and has held numerous positions with MCMSA.
An active volunteer, Mrs. Detesco has worked on the Red Cross Ball, the Symphony Ball, the Christmas program at the Butler, and the YSU President's Committee for Adults Back to College.
Mrs. Detesco and her husband, Dr. Thomas N. Detesco, live in Boardman. She is dedicating her presidency to the memory of her late mother-in-law, Mrs. Virginia Detesco. During her term the alliance will support Hospice of the Valley and the Rich Center for Autism.
Also installed
Installed as her associate officers were: Ann Might, president elect; Carol Sankovic, vice president; Beth Bacani, treasurer; Maria Cutrona, recording secretary; and Ms. Yarab, corresponding secretary.
Outgoing president Shelley Duffett presented a check in the amount of $1,500 to Dr. Elena Rossi. The funds are the proceeds from a shopping fund-raiser held in November and are to be used as a benefit for the Touched by Nathan Organization for fragile babies.
