Joyful families greet reservists

Lt. Jim Beck, above, of Evans City, Pa., is greeted by his daughter Emilee, 4, while at left, Taylor Herman, 6, of Austintown, holds a sign welcoming home the Army Reserve's 347th Quartermaster Co. The unit of about 190 soldiers returned to its home base in Farrell on Friday after being mobilized in early March and sent to Fort Dix, N.J., as part of the nation's buildup for the war with Iraq and the war on terrorism. The unit, however, was not deployed to Iraq. The mission of the unit, which also was mobilized in 1990 in support of operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, is to establish petroleum supply lines for Army combat units. It has the capacity to pump oil 96 miles through six pumping stations.
