GRANT APPROVAL City of Sharon

The city of Sharon has been awarded an $842,000 federal Community Development Block Grant, according to U.S. Rep. Phil English of Erie, R-3rd. The city will use that money, along with about $90,000 in federal money it already had, in the following manner:
$237,500: Demolition of dilapidated buildings.
$150,000: Housing rehabilitation.
$140,000: New home construction.
$121,000: Assistance to public agencies.
$63,000: Street improvements.
$35,000: Code enforcement.
$1,000: Bike helmets for children.
$186,000: Administration.
