NHL PLAYOFFS Giguere shuts out Wild, 4-0

The Mighty Ducks are one win from the Stanley Cup finals.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Jean-Sebastien Giguere deflects credit as skillfully as he swats away shots, saying that teammates in front of him are responsible for his success.
When Minnesota's Marian Gaborik bore down on the Anaheim goal early in Wednesday night's game, there was no one in front of Giguere. The Anaheim goalie deftly blocked Gaborik's point-blank shot and went on to his third consecutive shutout, a 4-0 victory that put the Mighty Ducks within one win of the Stanley Cup finals.
"Maybe it's the result of the breakaway, not scoring, and other chances we had that we didn't score, that gave them a lift," Wild coach Jacques Lemaire said. "They're playing well, and the goalie is a big part of it, no doubt."
The seventh-seeded Ducks can sweep the Western Conference finals with a home victory Friday night.
Gets 35 saves
The save against Gaborik, who has a playoff-high nine goals, was one of 35 by Giguere, another outstanding performance in what has become one of the most sensational playoff runs ever by a goalie.
The 25-year-old Giguere, in his first postseason, has stopped 98 Minnesota shots in the three games. He became only the sixth goalie in NHL playoff history to record three shutouts in a row, and the first to do it in a Stanley Cup semifinal series.
He hasn't allowed a goal in 213 minutes, 17 seconds, going back to the third period of the Ducks' Game 6 victory over Dallas. The playoff record is 248:32 by Detroit's Normie Smith in 1936.
While he won't take credit, his teammates think he deserves a ton of it.
"He was unbelievable again," Keith Carney said. "He made some huge saves, especially that breakaway we gave to them. If they had scored there, it would have been a different period."
Steve Rucchin's goal 4:59 into the game gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead, Paul Kariya scored twice and Stanislav Chistov had a goal during a second-period flurry that put Anaheim in control. The Ducks scored on three of 16 shots against Dwayne Roloson, and added their fourth goal shortly after Manny Fernandez took over in goal.
