KSU Trumbull to present MLK-Malcolm X play



CHAMPION -- The Independent Black/Minority Coalition at Kent State University Trumbull Campus will present a one-act play depicting a meeting between Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X.
The play will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Monday in Lecture Hall A.
A reception in the student union will follow Monday's performance in recognition of Malcolm X's birthday. Food will be provided by Rochester's Soul Food Kitchen of Warren.
"The Meeting" is set in a Harlem hotel and depicts the supposed secret meeting between the two at the request of Malcolm X while both men are in New York.
The script tells the story of the two leaders and Malcolm X's body guard who debate their different approaches to improving the fate of the black man.
Abdu Awolowo of the IB/MC is the director, with Don Motley, Lindell Trimble and Clyde Holmes portraying King, Malcolm X and the body guard.
