ITT Tech offers portions of programs via Internet

The option has been piloted at other ITT locations.
YOUNGSTOWN -- New students enrolling in the ITT Technical Institute on North Meridian Road may not have to spend as much time on campus as past students.
The institute now offers portions of its degree programs via the Internet.
Specializing in two-year associate degree programs in technology, the institute offers programs in areas such as electronics, information technology and drafting and design. Offered online are the 25 percent of courses in general education, including composition, college mathematics, economics and group dynamics.
Online offerings will help reduce the number of days a student visits campus from three to two.
ITT director Frank Quartini said the option is especially important to working adults who must balance education with employment and family. He said the online option has been popular where piloted at other ITT locations.
Students have 24-hours-a-day access to the courses, which begin and end on the same schedule as regular courses. They must complete weekly assignments to stay enrolled.
