Beaver Twp. trustees raise zoning fees

NORTH LIMA -- If you're planning to ask for a variance or make a conditional-use request for property in Beaver Township, it'll cost you more now.
Township trustees agreed to several increases after zoning inspector Michele L. Swope told them there had been no raise in zoning fees in more than 10 years.
Variances, appeals and conditional-use request fees have gone up from $200 to $250 each. Pool permits went up $5. Signs remain at $25, but the township added $1 per square foot over 20 square feet. Fences have a flat rate of $25 with an additional charge of $1 for every $500 in valuation.
Copies of the zoning map and the zoning ordinance remain at $5 and $10, respectively, and mining and billboard permits must be renewed annually for $100 each.
Cost of zoning permits, previously based on the cost estimate of the new construction, are now based on the size of the project in square feet.
Swope also noted the cost of permits obtained after the start of construction will be doubled.
