Pitt hires Lombardi as assistant coach

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Joe Lombardi, a former assistant coach at La Salle, St. Bonaventure and St. Francis, Pa., was hired Tuesday to complete new Pittsburgh coach Jamie Dixon's staff.
Lombardi, a native of Sharon, Pa., joins fellow assistant coaches Barry Rohrssen and Pat Sandle and director of basketball operations Orlando Antigua on Dixon's staff.
Lombardi played at Kennedy Christian High School near Sharon and Youngstown State before beginning his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Ohio U. He also was an assistant at Youngstown State and Indiana (Pa.) before moving into Division I.
Lombardi was at St. Francis from 1987-92, St. Bonaventure from 1992-2001 and La Salle from 2001-03.
