Educator to lead wetlands walk into Howland Wildlife Preserve

HOWLAND -- Local environmental educator Brice Harris will lead a wetlands walk into the Howland Wildlife Preserve at 7 p.m. Saturday.
The informal walk will feature discussion points about pond ecology, amphibian biology, flood plains, wildlife and wetlands.
Harris is a curriculum and instruction supervisor for the Trumbull County Educational Service Center. He specializes in environmental education and science.
The walks are held the third Thursday of each month during the summer. Participants park and meet at Shepherd of the Valley on North River Road.
Those attending should wear boots or walking shoes, light-colored clothing, long pants, long sleeves, sunscreen and/or mosquito repellent.
Participants may bring binoculars and field guides.
This month's walk is being offered in conjunction with TAMPEEL, the educational service center's environmental education program.
As part of the TAMPEEL program, pupils from 17 Trumbull County school districts learn about the environment through hands-on experiences during three days of instruction at the Howland Park facilities.
Call Harris, TCESC supervisor, at (330) 675-2800, Ext. 120.
