CAMPUS NOTES In the spotlight
BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY
Sara Kaminski, a sophomore from Austintown, has been elected vice president of Undergraduate Student Government for 2003-2004. Kaminski, a political science major, is a 2001 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and the daughter of John and Marita Kaminski.
Kimberly Prus of Canfield is one of four students chosen to receive a $7,000 Frazier Reams Fellowship, among the largest and most prestigious scholarships offered to BGSU students. The fellowships are awarded annually to seniors who plan to pursue careers in public affairs. To be considered, students must maintain a 3.2 grade-point average, submit recommendation letters and write an essay. Prus is the daughter of Kevin and Dawn Prus of Canfield. She is a junior broadcast journalism major with a minor in sociology.
DRAKE UNIVERSITY, Des Moines, Iowa
Journalism and sociology major Jenna Buzzacco received the Top Junior Award at the university's Leaders & amp; Luminaries Award Ceremony. A 2000 graduate of Chaney High School, she is the daughter of Ralph and Dru-ann Buzzacco of Youngstown.
DAVIDSON COLLEGE, North Carolina
Joseph Taylor of Poland is one of 32 college students selected to attend this year's nine-day American Psychological Association Summer Science Institute, offering interaction with nationally known experts, hands-on lab experience and discussions with graduate students in the field. Taylor graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 2002. He was selected from about 400 applicants.
MARIETTA COLLEGE
Freshman Samantha McKay of East Palestine was awarded the Spirit of McDonough Award at the college's Spring 2003 Honors Convocation. The award recognizes first-year leadership students. McKay, the daughter of Karen Bingham and Randy McKay, is a graduate of East Palestine High School.
MALONE COLLEGE, Canton
Three local students received awards at a recent senior recognition banquet.
Eric P. Hodgson of Salem, a Salem High School graduate, was named the outstanding graduate in psychology in the School of Arts and Sciences, Natural and Behavioral Sciences Division.
Michelle Y. Evans of Austintown, a district general manager for Sears, Roebuck and Co., was named the outstanding graduate in the management program of the School of Continuing Studies.
Allyson J. Bomberger of Salem, a South Range High School graduate, was named the outstanding graduate in bible/theology in the School of Theology.
ASHLAND UNIVERSITY
Middle-school education major Christopher Kondas of Canfield has been elected officer of judicial affairs and standards on the Student Senate. He is the son of Christopher W. Kondas.
