Auction to benefit Moraine park programs
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Volunteers of the Moraine Preservation Fund are preparing for The Great Moraine Auction on Saturday.
The sale will begin at 9 a.m. at the McDanel's Launch on the north shore of the Moraine State Park's Lake Arthur.
Laura DeYoung, a Moraine Preservation Fund volunteer, said the auction proceeds help fund Moraine State Park programs. The park is in Butler County.
The auction will consist of a variety of new and used items in good condition as well as gift certificates for products and services. Individuals and businesses have donated to the auction.
Many of the items are related to fishing, camping and gardening, according to a spokesman for the event.
DeYoung said the Moraine Preservation Fund was organized to generate money for park projects beyond the scope of the park's normal funding.
A program to reintroduce barn owls to the park is one of the projects planned this year, she said.
