Salem to hire Jeff Brink
Jeff Brink will be named boys basketball coach at Salem High at a special Board of Education meeting tonight. Brink has been boys basketball coach at Springfield High the past five years, with a record of 94-19, leading the Tigers to four consecutive Inter-County League titles. Brink, a Springfield High graduate, was the Division III coach of the year in 2000-01 and has been district coach of the year the past two seasons.
He led the Tigers to a 22-2 record this season, winning the school's first district championship in 34 years.
He replaces George Spack, who resigned after coaching the Quakers for two different stints that covered 14 years. Salem finished with a 4-17 record this season, including a 1-9 mark in the Metro Athletic Conference.
